A man accused of murdering an escort told police he had sex with a woman at Union Terrace — and then left. The comments were made during the trial of Bala Chinda who is accused of raping and murdering Jessica McGraa, 37, on February 11 last year. He is also accused of attempting to defeat the ends of justice. He denies all the charges against him.
The court heard after a statement was taken from taxi driver George Greig he and another officer went to the student accommodation on King Street on February After receiving information about the keycard system used to enter and exit the building, they went to the room occupied by Chinda.
The court was told when Chinda was spoken to initially he was asked to give his details and by that point there had been preliminary inquiries into phone records. The court heard Chinda made a reply to this and Det Con McCrystal was asked to read what had been said from his police notebook. However, Det Con McCrystal disagreed with this. Taxi driver George Greig also gave evidence. He told how he picked up a woman and a man from Union Terrace on February 11 last year and the taxi was dispatched at He told how he drove the pair to student accommodation on King Street, stopping for a few minutes while the man got out and then back in again, before driving back towards Union Terrace and dropping them off.
