I am going to melun on 2 Sept and am wondering if it is easy to take public transport from CDG airport to Melun.
I will have 3 large luggage cases, hand luggage and a 4yr old and 2yr old, therefore cant have much walking. The fare would be However, with that much luggage and 2 children, the connection will be the difficulty. Renting a car might be a possible solution. I am sure a taxi would be cost prohibitive. I am unfamiliar with any bus option. An alternative is the RER "R" which is 'express' from Gare de Lyon to Melun, it takes minutes, and they leave more or less every 30 minutes.
Otherwise, the local bus service is here in french :. Of course, with so many bags and children, a taxi is the most convenient option for the whole trip, but obviously not the cheapest.. I should add that the RER R trains sit at gare de Lyon for ages and ages it's the terminus , so there's no rush to get everyone and everything on the train as there usually is with the RER D This post has been removed at the author's request. I can't see how it is possible to travel with two small children with the safety issues around trains that require attentive care and 3 large suitcases plus hand luggage.
How do you envision keeping the kids safe while loading 3 large and several small pieces of luggage up steep steps into a train? Are you moving to Melun? Or have some other reason for carrying so much stuff? If not, figure out how to do this with a backpack, and one piece of luggage and a hand for the two year old and hope the four year old stays close. OP, I would just get a taxi -- or ask with the folks at the university for their recommendations -- trying to make that trip on public transport with lots of luggage and two small children is going to be really, really difficult.
